The 15th Annual Deimel Legacy Ball will be held Saturday, February 1st beginning at 6 p.m. at The Columbus, Georgia Convention and Trade Center. The black tie optional event, which celebrates the Catholic faith, will be hosted by Diocese of Savannah Bishop Most Reverend Gregory J. Hartmayer, OFM Conv. The evening is supported by parishes in the Columbus deanery of the Diocese of Savannah.
The Deimel Legacy Ball is named for Monsignor Herman J. Deimel, who was committed to the growth of the Catholic community in the Columbus area. He served as pastor of Holy Family Church from 1943 until 1961 and St. Anne Catholic Church from 1961 until 1966. During his 23 years in Columbus, he was instrumental in the establishment of St. Francis Hospital, which opened in 1950, the new Holy Family School, which opened in 1952, and Pacelli High School, which was built in 1958 (Pacelli was originally called Holy Family High School, but was renamed Pacelli in 1958 in memory of the late Pope Pius XII, who died that year). Proceeds from the Deimel Legacy Ball support tuition assistance at St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School. The evening will feature cocktails, dinner, and dancing.
Reservations will go on sale online October 15, 2019 and are $75 per person until October 31, 2019. Reservations will then cost $85 per person from November 1-December 31, 2019 and $100 per person from January 1-22, 2020.
In addition to individual dinner reservations, you can also support the Deimel Legacy Ball across five levels of sponsorship. These sponsorship levels include admission to the event as well as recognition to you as a thank you for your gift. This year, we will also host a "Cocktails with the Bishop" V.I.P. event preceding dinner. This event is limited to a select number of guests and included in the top three tiers of sponsorship. However, if you wish to attend, you can secure your spot by making an additional $50 gift to the Deimel Legacy Ball.
